The month of February brought some exciting project grants to a close. Helping folks with Aust Co, Bundanon and Gambling Community grants has been confidence building. My knowledge and experience is being utilised really well. Happy to continue as a grant writer at this stage.
Looking forward to helping out at The Rock & Roll Writers Festival, early April at Brightside. Also very happy to be contributing bigger picture insights to the Transition project at Metro in May. Taking on management duties for Gold Coast Chamber Orchestra, advising a Sunshine Coast playwright re RADF, and participating in the Women in Theatre Bridge Club activities. Grants written for Margi Brown Ask & Ben Knapton; Clint Bolster and Philip Channells.
Watching local Brisbane government campaigns that are all still about traffic and public transport. Little attention paid to key segments of the community and the importance of Lifestyle programs. So I pitched one of my own.
Still studying and deepening my knowledge of legislation re Marriage in Australia. And thinking a lot about ceremony, poetry and music for rites of passage. There is a space here for commissions, I think.
Gigs: visited APT8 twice (snap below), The Necks at Sandgate Town Hall, Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlins at Tivoli, Gaybies at Brisbane Powerhouse – top of the list for the month.
That’s Feb wrapped up. March brings new partnerships, more grants, assessment activity, publicity and perhaps some work for my friends at Collusion.
